Frequently asked questions

Everything about synchronisation, webshop, pricing, technology and payouts.

0. Getting started with RecordFlower

You need three things: an active Discogs account with inventory, a bank account for your Stripe connection, and an email address for your RecordFlower account. A minimum inventory is not required — you can start with a single item.
Getting started takes four steps and on average around 10 minutes: • Create a RecordFlower account at recordflower.com. • Connect your Discogs account via OAuth — you grant permission once, and your inventory is loaded in immediately. • Create a Stripe account and complete the one-time identity verification (KYC). You can find more information at stripe.com/docs/identity. • Personalise your webshop via the dashboard: add your logo, set your colours, and add your company details. Your store goes live immediately after step 4 and is accessible to buyers. During the first synchronisation, all products are retrieved; during that period your webshop is not yet accessible to visitors. Once the first sync is complete, your store is live.
Stripe is the payment processor that RecordFlower uses for all transactions. Through your own Stripe account you receive payments directly into your bank account — RecordFlower has no access to your money. You create a Stripe account once and complete the identity verification (KYC). This is a standard requirement of Stripe for all sellers. You can find more information and an explanation of the verification steps at stripe.com.
Yes. RecordFlower is completely free to try for 14 days — without a credit card and with access to all the features of your chosen plan. After the trial period, you decide for yourself whether to take out a subscription. There is no automatic renewal.
At the end of the trial period, you receive a notification. You decide for yourself whether to take out a subscription — this is a deliberate, manual action. Nothing is automatically renewed or charged. If you choose not to continue, your customer data is deleted.
Yes. You manage all your webshop settings — from colours and logo to shipping costs and user management — via your own dashboard. Everything is configurable and saved immediately. You do not need any technical knowledge.
Yes, and that is exactly the idea. RecordFlower is an additional sales channel — not a replacement. Your Discogs inventory remains the central source. Sales through both channels are possible; stock is synchronised in real time to prevent duplicate sales.
Yes. Your existing Discogs reviews are visible in your RecordFlower webshop. This way you benefit immediately from the reputation you have built up. A dedicated review system within RecordFlower is on the roadmap.
No. Each RecordFlower account is linked to one Discogs account and one webshop. If you have multiple Discogs accounts or stores, you need a separate RecordFlower subscription for each.
Yes. RecordFlower is also available to serious private individuals. To do so, you complete the standard Stripe onboarding, during which Stripe verifies your identity (KYC). Once verification is complete, you can get started right away. Please note: for private individuals based in the Netherlands, selling via RecordFlower is currently not possible. Stripe requires a KVK registration for Dutch accounts. This is a Stripe requirement and may change in the future. For the most up-to-date information, please consult the Stripe documentation: docs.stripe.com/connect/upcoming-requirements-updates
The roadmap is available on the RecordFlower website. Here you will find an overview of the further developments RecordFlower intends to implement — including a dedicated review system, a referral programme, discount codes, and integrations with multiple marketplaces. The roadmap is updated regularly.

1. Discogs synchronisation

RecordFlower connects to your Discogs account via secure OAuth authentication. You do not share a password — you grant RecordFlower permission once through Discogs itself. Your entire inventory, including releases, prices, conditions, and descriptions, is loaded directly into your RecordFlower environment.
Yes. As soon as something changes on Discogs — a sale, a price adjustment, or a new item — this is automatically processed in your webshop. You do not need to do anything for this.
New items you add to Discogs are automatically synchronised to your webshop every night at 00:00. Do not want to wait? Via your admin environment, you can start the synchronisation manually at any time with a single click.
During the first synchronisation, all your Discogs products are retrieved and loaded in. During this period, your webshop is not yet accessible to visitors. Once the first sync is complete, your store goes live immediately. During all subsequent synchronisations, neither you nor your buyers will notice anything — the store simply remains accessible.
No. RecordFlower mirrors your Discogs inventory and adjusts it automatically based on the changes you make in Discogs. Discogs always remains the single source of truth. This prevents conflicts and ensures a consistent inventory across all channels.
The stock in your webshop is adjusted immediately and automatically. This way you prevent duplicate sales and your stock always stays up to date on both platforms.
Should the connection with Discogs unexpectedly be lost, RecordFlower has extensive blog articles available that guide you step by step through re-establishing the connection. In addition, our support team is available for you seven days a week.
iFrame and Standalone include 40 synchronisations per month; Pro / Growth has unlimited synchronisations. Each nightly sync (00:00) counts as 1 sync; each manual sync does too. Additional syncs can be purchased in batches of 20 for €5,- per month.
RecordFlower is built as a multi-marketplace platform. On the roadmap is the integration with several other marketplaces alongside Discogs. This means that in the future you will be able to offer your stock across multiple sales channels from a single central environment.

2. Webshop & Dashboard

At the end of the trial period, you receive a notification. You decide for yourself whether to take out a subscription — this is a deliberate, manual action. Nothing is automatically renewed or charged. If you choose not to continue, your customer data is deleted.
Yes. You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your subscription on a monthly basis — without penalties or notice periods. After cancellation, your customer data is deleted. You can export your order history in advance from your dashboard.

4. Technology & Security

All user data is stored in a dedicated, fully isolated database. Each RecordFlower partner runs in a separate database environment — your data is never accessible to other users. The servers are located in Europe and comply with the AVG/GDPR legislation. Sensitive data such as API keys is stored encrypted.
RecordFlower guarantees an uptime of 99.9%. We achieve this by using robust software solutions and professional hosting. RecordFlower takes full responsibility for maintenance, management, and availability — this is included as standard in every plan.
RecordFlower uses a multi-tenant architecture in which each seller operates in a fully separated environment. This means maximum privacy, optimal security, and stable performance. We process all data carefully and in accordance with the AVG.
Yes. The connection runs via OAuth authentication, the industry standard for secure access. Your Discogs password is never shared with RecordFlower. You grant permission once through Discogs itself and can revoke it at any time.

You make the required DNS changes yourself with your domain name registrar. RecordFlower has a detailed blog available that guides you step by step through this process. Need help? Our support team is available seven days a week.

The payout process works as follows: • The buyer places and pays for an order. • The amount is held by Stripe. • You indicate in your dashboard that the order has been shipped. • The payment is deposited into your bank account the next day. You decide yourself in which currency you wish to be paid out.
RecordFlower itself does not charge any transaction fees. Stripe charges standard processing fees per transaction; these are passed on one-to-one without any mark-up. You can find the current rates per payment method and country at stripe.com/pricing.
