Connecting your till to the Hub
3 min
The till is not another sales channel. It is the place where your stock changes most often, and the connection to the Hub is built around that fact. You keep ringing up sales in the till you already have; the till tells the Hub what sold, and the Hub takes the copy off Discogs, Bol.com, eBay and your webshop at that moment. No separate scan in RecordFlower, no end-of-day reconciliation.
Which tills
The Hub connects to Loyverse, Lightspeed, SumUp, Square, Zettle, Shopify POS, Mplus, CCV, Clover and Epos Now. These are general retail tills; they know nothing about pressings or condition grades and they do not need to. The Hub holds the record-specific detail and the listings; the till holds the product, the barcode and the price at the counter.
Your till not in the list? Get in touch. If it has an API, we can usually connect it.
How to connect
Go to Settings → Integrations and pick your till system.
Log in at your till provider when asked and grant RecordFlower access to sales and products.
Choose how products are matched: by EAN barcode, or by the label number the Hub prints for records without one.
Run the product sync. See the next section.
Every product must be in the till
The connection has one condition: the till can only report a sale the Hub can match if the till knows the product. A sale of "misc 12,50" cannot be tied to a copy. If your records are not in your till yet, the Hub puts them there through the till's API, with the barcode or label number as the identifier. From then on the Hub is the source for your till as well as for your channels: a record you add through Scan and Go appears in the till by itself.
Keep one source
Do not create record products in the till by hand once the connection is live. A product the Hub does not know cannot be removed from your online channels when it sells.
What happens at a sale
The customer is at the counter, you scan the sleeve, you take cash or card. The till registers the sale and sends it to the Hub. The Hub sets the copy's quantity from one to zero and withdraws the listings on your other channels, typically within a few minutes. The customer notices nothing; your online channels simply stop showing a record that is no longer there.
The other direction is covered too: an order that arrives online is blocked in the Hub first, and the till sees the copy as sold when someone scans it at the counter later. How that timing works is explained in the guide on double sales.
Returns and corrections
A refund in the till comes back to the Hub as a return: the copy goes back to a quantity of one and is republished on your channels. If a record was scanned by mistake, correct it in the till as you normally would; the Hub follows.
The scanner at the till
Any barcode scanner that works with your till works with the Hub, because the Hub never sees the scanner, only the sale. If you order the scanner through RecordFlower you know in advance that it reads both EAN barcodes and the labels the Hub prints.
Contactless or cash makes no difference
The trigger is the completed sale in the till, not the payment method. Card, cash, gift voucher: the Hub only needs to know which product sold.
