Setting prices per channel for Discogs, Bol.com and eBay
3 min
A record does not have to cost the same everywhere. Discogs takes a commission, Bol.com takes another, eBay something else, and your own webshop takes nothing. The Hub keeps one base price per copy and lets you set a rule per channel on top, so that one stock figure can carry four prices without four spreadsheets.
The base price lives in the Hub
Every copy has one base price, the number you set when you add or price the record. That is the price your own webshop shows. It is also the number you change when the market moves; the channel prices follow by themselves.
A rule per channel
Under Channels you set, per external channel, a markup or a discount on the base price: a percentage, a fixed amount, or both. For example:
Own webshop: base price.
Discogs: plus a percentage that covers the marketplace fee and the payment fee.
Bol.com: plus a larger percentage, because the commission there is higher and shipping expectations are stricter.
eBay: a discount, if you use eBay to move slow stock.
The numbers above are the shape of it, not a recommendation. The point is that each channel has its own rule and the stock figure stays one.
Choosing the numbers
Start from what each channel actually costs you: its commission, its payment fee and the shipping arrangement. Discogs charges a percentage of the sale that since 2023 includes shipping; Bol.com and eBay publish their category fees. Add what you want to earn extra for the effort of that channel, or subtract what you are willing to give up for its reach. Round to a price that looks natural on that platform.
Your own shop should win
A buyer who finds you on Discogs and then on your own domain should see a reason to order from you directly. The markup on the external channels is that reason. It is the same margin, kept by you instead of the platform.
Rounding and minimums
Each rule can round to a whole amount or to a psychological ending, and can set a floor so a discount never pushes a cheap record below your minimum. Rules apply to new copies automatically and to your existing stock the moment you save them, so changing a percentage reprices a channel in one go.
Exceptions per copy
Some records deserve their own price on one channel: a rare pressing that a collector market values differently, or a record you want to keep out of the discount on eBay. Open the copy and override the channel price; the rule skips that copy from then on, until you remove the override.
What goes where
Price is one decision per channel; whether an item goes there at all is another. Records go to every channel you have switched on. Own items such as merch and accessories go to your webshop always, and to Bol.com and eBay only if you say so per item. Both decisions are made in the Hub, never by a platform.
When a copy sells
None of this touches the stock figure. Whichever channel sells the copy, at whatever price, the Hub blocks it and withdraws it everywhere else. Four prices, one record; the price rules describe how it is offered, not how many there are.
VAT follows the price the buyer pays
If you are established in the EU, the Hub calculates VAT per order on the channel price actually charged, under the regime you set for the item. The margin scheme for second-hand records applies regardless of channel.
