Selling internationally

International shipping and your webshop: what to look out for

19/02/2026 — [email protected]

You have decided to sell internationally through your RecordFlower web shop. That will open your store to buyers in dozens of countries. But there are a few practical things to consider.

Set shipping costs per country

Through your dashboard, set your shipping rates by country. Make sure your rates are current - shipping rates vary greatly by destination and carrier. An incorrect rate can result in losing orders. Adjust your rates as soon as your carrier changes costs.

Customs and import duties

Customs and import duties may apply when shipping outside the EU. These are the buyer's responsibility unless you communicate otherwise. Please state this clearly in your webshop or in your shipping policy, so buyers are not surprised.

Packaging for international shipping

Vinyl is fragile. Especially in international shipping - where packages are skipped more often - sturdy packaging material is essential. Strong cardboard, bubble wrap and rigid mailers are the standard in the vinyl world. Your reputation as a seller depends in part on the condition in which a record arrives.

What does this mean for you?

Selling internationally offers great opportunities, but requires a thoughtful shipping policy. Put your rates and terms clearly and you'll avoid problems.
